The first record of the property as a distinct entity is from October 21, 1916, when E. C. Myers (professor of penmanship at Grove City College) and his wife, Margaret, purchased it from the Lincoln Land Co. for $7,000.
The house was completed in 1925 and surrounded by lawn, occupying the eastern half of the property while the west side was planted with a diverse and lovely selection of native shade trees.
In November of 2013, Julie and James Witmer took possession, and by the following spring had begun shaping the hedges and beds that make the gardens what they are today.
